16 Weeks

Today was our 16 week checkup and all is well.  I've only gained 4 pounds so far =)  Our little Jellybean wouldn't stay still for the dopplar so the doctor pulled him/her up on ultrasound and she/he looks very healthy.  She/he was moving all around, waving their arms and kicking their legs - no wonder she couldn't get the heartbeat for longer than a split second!

I have officially outgrown all my old pants =(  I went to Target today to look at maternity clothes and they are soooo expensive!  So, I grabbed a few pairs of plus size shorts - in a much larger size - making sure they had drawstrings on them so I can tie them tight now and loosen them up later on and grow into them =)  I also found some cute tops but will wait until those go on sale in a couple weeks.

Not much else happened today ... it was rather boring.  I pulled something in my chest (I hope that's the case and it's not my heart acting up again) yesterday doing all those chores so now my chest hurts really badly and I am having issues breathing ... if it's still really painful and bad tomorrow I'll go in to the ER, but I really think it'll be fine.

Other than that ... yeah, nothing to write about.  So ... I'm off to go have dessert and get to bed early.

$h!t my kid says

I love talking to my 5 year old and listening to her when she doesn't know I am ... she says the darndest things!  It may be because I'm an independent, outspoken woman (some people might say "bitch" but that's okay too) and I'm teaching her to be the same, but man some of the stuff she says blows me away!j

Take for instance a few weeks ago when the neighbors were out in their backyard being waaaaay too loud ... her bedroom is in the back of the house and overlooks the backyards.  It's summertime here and we have no a/c so we open our windows at night.  The neighbors (who are constantly loud b/c they are of a ... cultural persuasion that obviously has a genetic problem with hearing loss) were outside - about 6 guys - smoking and listening to music and talking very loudly.  My daughter complained that they were too loud for her to get to sleep, so I nicely went out back and asked them to please keep it down - they copped an attitude with me, so I called apartment security - twice.  Finally, I hear her walk to her window and yell "HEY YOU! SHUT UP ALREADY! I AM TIRED, MY MOMMY IS SICK AND PREGNANT AND WE BOTH NEED OUR SLEEP! TRY BEING POLITE, USE YOUR MANNERS AND TAKE IT INSIDE ALREADY!!!!!" Yeah, they totally beat feet inside.

Or, earlier this month at the grocery store we were in line (it was a busy weekend) and I had about 15 items *total* but, it was three seperate transactions (two were WIC transactions) so I apologized to the cashier b/c I honestly didn't mean to use two at once, but we needed the items ... well the fellow behind us kept shuffling from one foot to another and doing that big huff of breath you do when you're annoyed, finally she spoke up and said "Hey Mister, why don't you go breath someone else? This is food that my mommy and the baby in her tummy need so if you are so impatient why don't you go down there and check yourself out?" and she pointed to the self-checkout stands.

Did I mention she is only 5?  A very. smart. 5.

So obviously I am pregnant and we are planning a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian) and we are planning for her to be in the room while we are laboring and giving birth.  I have gone over where the baby is in my body (not neccessarily how it got there) and how it's going to come out.  We have watched many birthing videos, looked at lots of pictures, and read lots of books - she is very prepared for this birth.  So I was explaining to her that after the baby is born, I will get to hold him/her first and then Daddy gets to hold him/her and then she can hold him/her and she isn't happy with this arrangement.  She understands that I get to hold the baby first b/c I have been carrying it and will birth it.  But she is upset that she doesn't get to hold it right after me - so she asked "Can I cut the cord?" to which I replied "No, that's one of Daddy's special jobs" so then she said "Okay, fine, can I help catch the baby??"  bwahahaha ... she is so amazing!  We made the deal (after I explained why she couldn't catch the baby) that as long as the doctor says it's alright and she stays out of the way she can stand down by the doctor and watch the baby being born - that way, she's the first person to see the baby, even before me.  She is happy with this decision, even though she's still peeved about not getting to catch him/her and cut the cord.

I love that she is so smart and mature, I just hope she doesn't use these smarts and maturity against us later on in the teen years!
